Choose a vintage look with our natural stone fireplaces. These fossil stone mantelpieces are hand-finished and have a "used" look. Each specimen is unique, irregularities in color and finish are part of the design, which gives character to the final product. Natural stone is always unique. Naturally occurring spots, stripes or patterns are never in the same place in any finished product. The type of stone we use for our mantelpieces is called fossil stone. This stone has an open structure. Although this open structure looks beautiful, it is susceptible to dirt. (A ring from a glass of red wine never disappears). By filling the stone with a resin material and polishing it, it becomes matt-glossy and can be easily wiped with a damp cloth. Just like pure white natural stone, black natural stone is not completely black. That is why we call it anthracite. Each fireplace varies in color. Unpolished white natural stone is slightly whiter than polished. With the darker colors, it is the exact opposite. Unpolished black is more dark gray or anthracite.
